On January 19, 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution, stipulating that by the end of 2020, China will take the lead in banning and restricting the production, sale and use of some plastic products in some regions and regions. Retailers will no longer provide plastic bags for disposable purchases and will only allow customers to pay for reusable bags such as paper bags. New York state businesses are also allowed to charge customers $0.05 per bag for paper bags when they provide them.
