The Plastic Pollution Solution, as the name suggests, is to solve the problem of plastic pollution. China has taken several steps to address the problem of waste plastic pollution. While banning the import of plastic waste, a number of solutions to plastic pollution have been developed to control the generation of waste plastic at its source. At the same time, the import ban of waste plastics has a great impact on the solutions of waste plastics pollution in developed countries, and developed countries have also issued corresponding scientific solutions to plastic pollution.

Scientific solutions to Plastic pollution in China
What is China doing to stop plastic pollution? In order to scientifically solve the problem of plastic pollution, China began to strengthen supervision on imported waste plastics in 2013, announcing a ban on imports of domestically sourced waste plastics in August 2017 and industrial-sourced waste plastics in April 2018. At the same time to develop the corresponding plastic pollution solutions, control the production of waste plastics. On January 19, 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution, stipulating that by the end of 2020, China will take the lead in banning and restricting the production, sale and use of some plastic products in some regions and regions. By the end of 2022, consumption of disposable plastics will be significantly reduced and alternative products promoted.

  Greece: Creating a plastic-free zone
In response to the Greek government's ban on plastic bags, the 360° Coffee Bar in Monastirach Square in Athens has joined the environmental group "Breathe the Aegean" to phase out disposable plastics in shops and restaurants around the square. As a "plastic-free zone", the Greek Ministry of Tourism launched the "Plastic-free Holy Island" campaign, aiming to make Santorini the first "plastic-free island" in the Cyclades and gradually extend it to all Cyclades and Aegean islands. Many of Greece's plastic pollution solutions have had significant results. According to a recent survey by the Retail Consumer Goods Association (IELKA), the use of disposable plastic bags in Greek supermarkets dropped 98.6% in 2019 compared to 2017.

  France upgrades plastic ban
The French Parliament passed the main content of the Anti-pollution and Circular Economy Law, proposing a total ban on disposable plastic packaging by 2024, a 100% recycling of plastic by 2025, and a halving of sales of disposable plastic bottles by 2030. However, the facts of plastic pollution are not encouraging. According to relevant statistics, France produces an average of 2.2 million tons of plastic each year, and only 25% of it is recycled each year. There is still a long way to go to achieve 100% plastic recycling by 2025, and plastic pollution still needs to be tackled scientifically.

United States: plastic restrictions gradually take effect
The Plastic Pollution Solution will be implemented on March 1, 2020, and the state of New York will implement a ban on plastic bags. Retailers will no longer provide plastic bags for disposable purchases and will only allow customers to pay for reusable bags such as paper bags. New York state businesses are also allowed to charge customers $0.05 per bag for paper bags when they provide them. Under the plastic bag ban, the $0.05 collected for each paper bag will be turned over, with $0.03 going to the New York State Environmental Defense Fund; The remaining $0.02 will be donated to local governments to distribute free reusable bags.

Italy: ban on plastic bags in ski resorts
When Peio ski Resort in Trentino Valley opened in December 2019, it ordered a total ban on plastic bottles, bags and items such as disposable cutlery, plates, straws and cups. As for why the ban was extended to ski resorts, the Italian authorities took notice of the discovery of traces of plastic in glaciers near ski resorts in the mountainous region and quickly adopted the ban, which was the first of its kind in European ski resorts. According to Plastic Pollution Solutions, the plastic ban aims to make ski resorts the first part of a sustainable plan for the Alps. However, ski resorts are only part of the story.
