What are biodegradable plastic garbage bags made of? Which garbage bags can be recycled? Whether you throw away your own trash or participate in commercial recycling, have you ever stopped to think about what happens when your trash leaves your home or business? If you do, you're not alone. Once collected outside the door, however, most people give it no second thought. Which bags are best for green recycling? Biodegradable versus compostable? Where do you buy biodegradable and compostable plastic garbage bags?

What garbage bags are environmentally friendly
You've probably heard about the importance of keeping your trash biodegradable. The problem is that most of the waste ends up in traditional garbage bags, which are not biodegradable.
That means any waste trapped in a bag is less likely to biodegrade, which is a problem when waste ends up in a landfill.
Traditional garbage bags are made of plastic, which is why they are not biodegradable. The situation only gets worse when you look at the number of traditional garbage bags used. For biodegradable waste to degrade, it needs three things: heat, moisture and oxygen. If a garbage bag is missing any of these things, it won't biodegrade or take longer than it should. Now think about how much of these elements does trash get when it's wrapped around plastic bags and stacked under more trash? If the plastic does eventually break down, it doesn't actually disappear; Instead, it turns into microplastics. These tiny pieces of plastic can seep into the soil and poison the surrounding land.
Or worse, it can be carried away by rain and pushed into the water system, where it can cause even more damage.
If we eat/drink anything that contains microplastics, we can become infected with plastic chemicals. That's why you should start using biodegradable trash bags. They give your waste the chance to biodegrade without damaging the environment in the process.

  Look in biodegradable garbage bags
Just because the bags say they are biodegradable doesn't mean they actually are. Many manufacturers are capitalizing on the love of green recycling solutions.
Bioplastics - anything that uses this term usually comes from plant-based plastics, so surely it can't be that bad? Unfortunately, they're not as good as you might think. The problem is that when they biodegrade, they produce a lot more methane gas than compostable garbage bags. If you do use these bags, make sure you dispose of them in a facility that can handle methane.
Bio-based - This type of biodegradable garbage bag is similar to bioplastic. They use plant materials to make products. The problem is that they often contain harmful chemicals. If you are looking at these, try to find packages with BPI certification. That's the only way to know that bags actually biodegrade without leaving behind harmful toxins.

In a word, biodegradable plastic garbage bags are a green recycling scheme, for the sake of our earth, we should devote ourselves to the cause of environmental protection.
